LA28 volunteer roles will open to applicants worldwide on July 14 as organizers begin recruiting about 60,000 people for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Interested applicants can submit an interest form now, while the full application portal will be available through LA28.org.
How to Apply for LA28 Volunteer Roles
Applicants can first register their interest and return to LA28.org when the full application opens July 14. Organizers said the “Games-time” volunteer program will support both competitions.
The information released so far does not include an application deadline, age requirement or selection timeline.
Shift Requirements and Service Dates
Selected volunteers must commit to 10 shifts. Olympic-related assignments are expected to run from March through August 2028, while Paralympic volunteer service will continue from August through September 2028.
LA28 Chief Executive Officer Reynold Hoover said volunteers will welcome athletes and spectators, support venues and help create memorable experiences throughout the Games.
LA28 Volunteer Host Cities and Duties
Most positions will be based in Los Angeles and nearby communities. Applicants may also select a preferred location from other host cities, including Oklahoma City; New York City; Columbus, Ohio; Nashville, Tennessee; St. Louis, Missouri; San José, California; and San Diego.
Duties will range from welcoming and directing spectators and athletes to specialized assignments involving medical support or language translation.
The application launch comes two years before the Opening Ceremony of the 2028 Summer Olympics. Los Angeles will become the third city to host the Olympics three times, after staging the Games in 1932 and 1984, and will host its first Paralympic Games.
The volunteer program gives fans a direct way to participate in the first Summer Olympics held in the United States since Atlanta hosted the Games in 1996.
