Amitabh Bachchan continued his customary Sunday greeting to fans outside Jalsa on November 1, but waved from behind a transparent protective enclosure as security was tightened. The change came after his name and residence were mentioned in a threat email reported to Mumbai Police.

The 84-year-old actor appeared outside his Mumbai bungalow as fans gathered for their regular Sunday meeting. Media reports described the transparent enclosure as bulletproof. Amitabh folded his hands and waved while security personnel watched the crowd. His son Abhishek Bachchan stayed close by, appearing alert. Photos and videos of the interaction circulated on social media, drawing attention to the unusual protective arrangement. 

Threat Email Mentioned Jalsa Among Possible Targets

The additional precautions followed threatening emails reported to Mumbai Police on October 23. One was received at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), and a similar email was sent to a school in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex. Amitabh’s name and Jalsa were mentioned, but police clarified he had not received a direct threat. The email reportedly warned of a possible attack at Jalsa between October 31 and November 27. Security teams searched the locations named and found nothing suspicious. 

Security Concerns Continue as Amitabh Works

A separate October 18 firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff has added to concerns about public figures’ safety in Mumbai. Reports have not established a connection between that incident and the threat email.

Despite the security change, Amitabh maintained his Sunday fan ritual. He continues to host Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 and was last seen in the 2024 Tamil film Vettaiyan, alongside Rajinikanth.
