PM Narendra Modi Gifts AP New 4-Lane Highway From Badvel to Nellore

In another significant gesture towards Andhra Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved a major infrastructure project transforming the Badvel-Nellore road into a 4-lane national highway. The decision was taken during a recent Union Cabinet meeting chaired by PM Modi and has been hailed as a strategic development for the region.

The announcement was formally made by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and shortly after, PM Modi took to his social media accounts to share the news in both English and Telugu, a move that resonated strongly with Telugu-speaking citizens and demonstrated Modi’s deepening engagement with the state.

The highway upgrade is expected to ease transportation between Andhra Pradesh’s interior regions and Krishnapatnam Port, cutting the travel distance by approximately 33.9 kilometers. Officials say the project will enhance logistics and trade access across the region, particularly benefiting businesses reliant on port infrastructure.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed gratitude on social media, thanking PM Modi and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. He stated that the highway would be a key contributor to Andhra Pradesh’s economic growth and logistics efficiency. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also welcomed the announcement as a timely and much-needed boost to the state’s infrastructure.

This project adds to a series of developmental initiatives by the Modi-led government post the 2024 elections. From securing international funding for Amaravati’s capital development to encouraging PSU investments, Delhi’s support for Andhra Pradesh has been unwavering. With the state’s MPs playing a pivotal role in the NDA’s position in Parliament, Modi’s attention to AP is being seen as a strategic and mutually beneficial alliance.

Locals and political observers have begun referring to these projects as “return gifts” from Delhi to Andhra, a symbolic recognition of the state's political and economic importance in national affairs. If this momentum continues, Andhra Pradesh may soon establish itself as a major development hub in South India, supported by a strong alliance between state leadership and the central government.
