According to Indian defense officials, Pakistan launched high-speed missiles at Indian air bases in Punjab during the early hours, causing damage to military infrastructure. Additionally, Pakistan employed drones, long-range weapons, and loitering munitions to attack multiple locations along India's western front, including army hospitals and schools in regions such as Srinagar, Avantipura, and Udhampur.
In response, India initiated Operation Sindoor, conducting precision strikes on identified Pakistani military targets. The Indian Air Force targeted command and control centers, radar sites, and weapon storage facilities in areas including Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, Chunian, Pasrur, and Sialkot. These strikes were carefully planned to minimize collateral damage and were aimed solely at military infrastructure.
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, during a press briefing, stated that the Indian armed forces remain in a high state of operational readiness and have effectively countered all hostile actions. She emphasized that India's military response was measured and aimed at de-escalating the situation, provided Pakistan reciprocates.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri reiterated India's stance, asserting that the provocations by Pakistan constituted a significant escalation, and India's response was both justified and restrained. He dismissed Pakistan's claims of Indian attacks on religious sites as baseless and part of a misinformation campaign. The Indian government has also addressed and refuted Pakistan's allegations of critical infrastructure damage within India, presenting time-stamped images to deny claims about the destruction of air force stations and bases.
As tensions continue to rise, both nations have expressed a willingness to avoid further escalation, contingent upon mutual restraint. However, with military assets being mobilized and airspaces being restricted, the situation remains volatile, and the international community watches closely, urging both sides to engage in dialogue and de-escalation efforts.
