Austin's Devon Walker Launches Hilarious Music Podcast

Austin’s own Devon Walker, best known for his rising presence on “Saturday Night Live,” is making waves outside late-night TV with his brand-new comedy podcast, “My Favorite Lyrics.” Known for his wit, relatable charm, and offbeat humor, Walker now brings that same energy to the podcast world but with a twist.

Walker, a native of Pflugerville and Texas State University graduate, launched the show just two weeks ago. The premise? A lovingly absurd breakdown of the goofiest, most ridiculous rap lyrics he can find an idea as niche as it is refreshing in the oversaturated podcast landscape. In his words, he’s not trying to revolutionize the genre, just trim the fat. “There should be a review board who decides who gets to stay and who has to leave,” Walker joked in an interview with Axios, poking fun at the sheer volume of podcasts today.

A Podcast That's Loud, Local, and Laugh-Out-Loud Funny

Two episodes in, “My Favorite Lyrics” has already featured guests like comedian and SNL writer Alex English and comedian Petey DeAbreu. New episodes drop every Tuesday, and fans can expect upcoming appearances from other Texas-tied talents like fellow “SNL” castmate Andrew Dismukes, a Houston native. “He will absolutely be a guest at some point,” Walker confirmed.

The show isn’t just funny it’s deeply personal. “God knows we don’t need another podcast,” Walker admits, “but if I am going to be a comedian starting one, let’s make it one that’s about something near and dear to me.” For Walker, that means silly rap bars, weird wordplay, and a good time. He insists the podcast doesn’t take itself too seriously and is proud of how “dumb” it is meant in the best way possible. Before becoming a national face on SNL’s 48th season in 2022, Walker cut his comedy teeth at Austin’s Cap City Comedy Club, where his local fan base grew steadily. Now based in New York but forever tied to his Texas roots, he’s using his platform to amplify humor in a way that blends music, nostalgia, and off-the-cuff commentary.

Walker’s journey from Central Texas to Studio 8H is proof of how local talent can explode onto national stages, and his podcast adds a new layer to his comedic range. It's not just another show it’s a love letter to hip-hop quirks and the lighter side of music critique. If you’re looking to laugh, reminisce about wild lyrics, or just want a podcast that doesn’t ask too much of your brain, “My Favorite Lyrics” might be your next weekly favorite. As Walker says in his own unique pitch: “Please, please listen to my podcast. And if you have the opportunity, stop listening to like five other podcasts.”
