The city of Dublin, California, in partnership with Camp Parks, will host a major public celebration on June 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Don Biddle Park to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States Army. The event will feature a wide array of tributes and interactive experiences highlighting the Army’s long and storied history, both nationally and within the local community.

This family-friendly celebration will include live demonstrations by military personnel, exhibitions of vintage military vehicles and uniforms, and a solemn tribute to prisoners of war and those missing in action (POW/MIA). Adding to the festive atmosphere will be live entertainment by the U.S. Army Band and other local performers, along with food vendors, games, and craft activities.

Camp Parks, officially known as the Parks Reserve Forces Training Area, has deep roots in American military history. Originally established in 1943 as a Navy base for the Seabees during World War II, it has since become an essential training center for over 20,000 Army Reserve and National Guard troops. Its legacy continues to shape Dublin’s community, with many veterans settling in the area after their service.

In advance of the celebration, the Dublin City Council, military personnel, and local dignitaries gathered to ceremonially relocate the historic Camp Parks sign and guardhouse, originally constructed in the 1940s by the Seabees. The sign is a rare surviving artifact of WWII-era military architecture and will undergo formal restoration before being reinstalled at the base’s main entrance, preserving its significance for future generations. This milestone event promises to be both a heartfelt tribute and a celebration of community, service, and legacy, inviting residents and visitors alike to connect with the rich military heritage of Dublin and Camp Parks.
