The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has announced a major recruitment drive for 6,180 Technician positions for the 2025–26 session. This large-scale opportunity will see candidates across India applying for 180 posts of Technician Grade 1 Signal and 6,000 posts under Technician Grade 3. The official notification (CEN 02/2025) will be available by June 27, while online applications will open from June 28 and continue till July 28, 2025.
The selection process includes a Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by document verification and a mandatory medical fitness test. This recruitment offers a crucial gateway for ITI and engineering diploma holders to enter the Indian Railways’ technical cadre.
For Technician Grade 1 Signal, candidates must hold a BSc in Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, IT, or Instrumentation, or possess a diploma/degree in a relevant engineering stream. For Technician Grade 3, the eligibility is Class 10 (SSLC/Matriculation) along with an ITI or completed Apprenticeship in specific trades like Moulder, Pattern Maker, or Forger.
Applicants must meet the age criteria as of July 1, 2025. The age limit is 18 to 33 years for Grade 1 and 18 to 30 years for Grade 3. Age relaxation will be provided as per government norms.
The application fee is set at ₹250 for SC/ST, PwD, women, transgender, minorities, and economically backward classes fully refundable after appearing in the CBT. General category candidates will pay ₹500, with ₹400 refunded upon CBT participation.
The pay scale follows the 7th CPC structure. Grade 1 Signal posts offer a starting salary of ₹29,200 (Pay Level 5), while Grade 3 posts start at ₹19,900 (Pay Level 2), with applicable allowances.
