The network reportedly misrepresented itself as legitimate companies, acquiring critical equipment such as spectrum analysers and security devices for Iran’s defense programs. The sanctions reflect Washington’s ongoing effort to restrict Iran’s access to sensitive military technology.

Deceptive Tactics and Global Reach

Authorities say the network operated fake websites that mirrored legitimate U.S. businesses to mislead suppliers. Shipments were reportedly routed through intermediaries in Dubai before reaching Iran. The operation is believed to be led by Iran-based Ali Majd Sepehr, illustrating its international scope and sophisticated evasion methods.

Part of “Maximum Pressure” Strategy

The sanctions target ten individuals and companies across West Asia, Asia, and Eastern Europe, identified as supporting Iran’s military procurement. This is part of the “Economic Fury” campaign, a broader strategy to prevent Tehran from obtaining advanced defense technology. Networks linked to the Centre for Progress and Development of Iran (CDPI), previously known as the Centre for Innovation and Technology Cooperation (CITC), are specifically sanctioned for coordinating procurement activities.
