India-US bilateral trade agreement talks will resume in India on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, and continue through Wednesday, June 24, 2026, as officials seek to complete the first phase of a proposed trade pact.
A delegation from the Office of the United States Trade Representative is scheduled to meet Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and other Indian officials. Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal said the two sides expect to give final touches to the first tranche while continuing negotiations on the broader bilateral trade agreement.
India-US trade talks June 23-24 focus on first BTA phase
The meetings follow negotiations held in New Delhi from Monday, June 1, 2026, through Thursday, June 4, 2026. Those discussions covered trade in goods, non-tariff barriers, customs procedures, trade facilitation, economic security alignment and other areas of mutual interest.
The June round is expected to focus on areas where an early agreement may be possible. At the same time, negotiators will continue work on wider commercial issues that could shape the full bilateral trade agreement.
Market access and customs rules remain central
Improving market access and reducing barriers affecting businesses and exporters remain key goals of the proposed pact. Customs procedures, trade facilitation and non-tariff barriers are also central to the negotiations.
The outcome of the June 23-24 meetings could show whether India and the United States are ready to complete the opening phase and move toward a broader trade deal. Progress would also signal how quickly the two countries can deepen commercial cooperation and address obstacles affecting bilateral trade.
