Anthropic believes the action followed concerns about a possible “jailbreak” that could bypass safeguards in Fable 5 and expose more powerful cybersecurity and biological capabilities associated with Mythos 5.

Anthropic Disputes the Reported Security Risk

Anthropic said the demonstration it reviewed identified only a small number of previously known, minor software vulnerabilities. It argued that other publicly available AI models could find similar flaws without bypassing safeguards.

The company also said extensive testing before launch did not uncover a universal jailbreak. Anthropic is complying with the directive while seeking to restore access to both models.
