The dogs support high-altitude search, rescue and detection missions in one of the most demanding operational environments on Earth. During the Yoga Day observance, they remained calm beside their handlers, reinforcing the themes of discipline, focus, endurance and resilience.
A Display of Trust in Extreme Conditions
The scenes highlighted the close bond between soldiers and their canine teammates, a relationship shaped by rigorous training and shared hardship. Against the vast white landscape, the dogs’ composure reflected the trust required for military operations in severe terrain.
Troops also marked International Yoga Day at other locations across Ladakh, including Pangong Tso, Galwan, Marsimik La, Durbuk, Tangtse and Karu. Soldiers participated in yoga sessions aimed at supporting physical fitness and mental well-being despite freezing conditions and difficult terrain.
The Siachen event stood out because it brought together soldiers and trained sniffer dogs in a rare display of discipline, harmony and unwavering spirit at the top of the world.
