Punjabi-origin YouTuber Nancy Grewal stabbed to death in Ontario, police probe homicide

A 45-year-old woman of Punjabi origin has died after being stabbed in Ontario, Canada, prompting a homicide investigation by local authorities. The victim, identified as Nancy Grewal, was a Windsor resident and an active YouTuber who frequently shared commentary on social and political issues related to Punjab and the Indian diaspora.

According to the LaSalle Police Service, officers and paramedics responded to reports of a stabbing shortly before 9:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday, March 3, in the 2400 block of Todd Lane. When first responders arrived at the location, Grewal was found suffering from multiple stab wounds. Members of the Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services transported her to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. Despite medical efforts, she later succumbed to her injuries.

The incident has been classified as a homicide, and investigators have launched an active probe to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack. On Wednesday morning, police cordoned off two homes in the area between Canada Street and Bishop Street along Todd Lane. Officers were seen documenting and marking several pieces of evidence along a concrete pathway and on the staircase leading to the entrance of one of the houses.

In a public statement, the LaSalle Police Service confirmed the identity of the victim and extended condolences to her family and friends. Authorities also indicated that the case is currently believed to be an isolated incident, a clarification intended to reassure residents in the surrounding neighborhood.

Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and are appealing to members of the public who may have information that could assist the investigation. Police have asked residents in the area to review any available surveillance footage from security cameras that might capture activity around the time of the incident. Individuals with relevant information have been encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Jamie Nestor of the LaSalle Police Service.

Nancy Grewal maintained a visible presence on social media, where she regularly posted commentary on political developments in Punjab and issues affecting the Punjabi community abroad. Her videos often addressed controversial topics and public figures, including discussions involving jailed Member of Parliament Amritpal Singh and political leader Bikram Singh Majithia, as well as Gurinder Singh Dhillon of Dera Beas.

She had also spoken publicly against the Khalistani movement and discussed tensions between India and Canada in recent months. In June of the previous year, Grewal had posted about the death of social media personality Kanchan Kumari, widely known online as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi, in Bathinda.

Authorities have not yet released details regarding potential suspects or a possible motive for the attack. Police say the investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to examine evidence and speak with witnesses in an effort to piece together the events leading up to the fatal stabbing.
