Obama Presidential Center Museum Tickets Sell Out in Chicago

CHICAGO — Obama Presidential Center museum tickets were sold out for the grand opening weekend as the new cultural and civic institution welcomed the public on Friday, June 19, 2026.

The South Side center opened one day after a dedication ceremony on Thursday, June 18, 2026, featuring performers, speakers, celebrity guests and three former U.S. presidents. The public debut coincided with Juneteenth.

Former President Barack Obama said he hopes the center will affirm the value of democracy and remind visitors what citizens can achieve through shared responsibility.

Obama Presidential Center museum tickets remain unavailable

Tickets for Friday, June 19, 2026, and the rest of the opening weekend were sold out, while many later dates had also filled. On Friday morning, the ticketing website showed no available reservations and advised visitors to join its mailing list for updates.

Timed-entry tickets had previously been offered through Monday, November 30, 2026. The center had not indicated when additional reservation slots would be released.

What Obama Center admission includes

General admission provides access to all four museum levels, the Oval Office replica and the Sky Room. Visitors must secure an advance timed reservation before entering the museum.

Illinois residents may visit the museum free every Tuesday, but they must still reserve tickets, which remain subject to availability. The wider campus is free and open to the public, so visitors may explore the grounds without museum admission.

Other Juneteenth options in Chicago

Visitors who could not secure Obama Center tickets had other free-admission options on Friday, June 19, 2026, including the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry.

The sold-out opening weekend highlights strong early interest in the Obama Presidential Center and makes future ticket-release announcements important for visitors planning a trip.
