The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its manifesto, called “Sankalp Patra,” for the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections scheduled on April 12. The party has promised to give formal recognition to Kokborok and other indigenous languages, and also proposed renaming TTAADC as the Tripura Autonomous Territorial Council. The manifesto focuses on preserving indigenous identity, traditions, and customary laws, along with setting up democratically elected village committees.
The BJP has outlined several welfare and development initiatives, especially for indigenous communities. These include opening handloom and handicraft training centres to support women, strengthening Self-Help Groups (SHGs), increasing the number of “lakhpati didis,” and providing skill training to youth for national and international job opportunities. The party has also promised to build a girls’ hostel in each district, establish a medical college in Dhalai, and set up nursing and paramedical institutes in Khumulwung.
Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed confidence that the BJP will form the government in TTAADC for the first time. He emphasized the party’s commitment to development, peace, and empowerment of tribal communities. BJP leaders also highlighted their focus on economic growth, education, and employment, stating that their manifesto includes 29 key promises aimed at overall progress in the region.
