Ranchi Protest Reaches Vidhan Sabha
Thousands of students and aspirants joined the Vidhan Sabha gherao march in Ranchi, with many carrying the national flag as they moved towards the Jharkhand Assembly. Visuals circulating from the protest showed security personnel using water cannons as demonstrators attempted to move past barricades erected along the route.
The agitation is linked to allegations surrounding recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission. The controversy surrounding the 14th JPSC Combined Civil Services examination has already triggered scrutiny of the recruitment process, including questions raised by aspirants over transparency and examination administration.
JPSC Row Fuels Student Demands
Candidates have been protesting over what they describe as serious irregularities in state recruitment examinations. Among their key demands is greater accountability in the examination system and an investigation capable of identifying those responsible for any wrongdoing.
The 14th JPSC Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination has become a major focus of the dispute. Earlier developments in the case included a CID investigation into alleged irregularities and scrutiny of people and agencies associated with the examination process.

Exam Probe Remains Key Issue
Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha leader Devendra Nath Mahto joined the Assembly march while continuing his protest over the recruitment controversy. Mahto has emerged as one of the prominent faces of the agitation and has been undertaking a hunger strike while pressing the government to address the students' demands.
During the protest, he appealed to the state administration to avoid actions that could lead to injuries or further confrontation. He also maintained that the agitation would continue until the core concerns of aspirants were addressed.
Ranchi police had maintained that peaceful demonstrations would be allowed while security personnel were deployed as a precaution around sensitive locations.
CBI Probe Demand Still Unresolved
Talks between representatives of the protesting aspirants and the Jharkhand government have so far failed to completely resolve the dispute. The state has continued with a CID investigation, while protesters have pushed for the case to be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The unresolved demand for a CBI probe remains one of the biggest points separating the two sides. Aspirants argue that an independent central investigation is necessary to restore confidence in the recruitment process.
As protests continue, the controversy has moved beyond the result of a single examination. It has become a wider debate about transparency, accountability and the credibility of competitive recruitment in Jharkhand.
