A peaceful evening Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar turned chaotic when a bull suddenly charged towards devotees gathered at Malviya Ghat. The unexpected incident triggered panic as people rushed to escape the animal, creating a stampede-like situation. A video capturing the frightening moments has surfaced online, raising concerns about stray cattle and public safety at crowded religious destinations. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Ganga Aarti crowd panic at Har Ki Pauri caught on video

The incident reportedly occurred a few days before the video surfaced on October 19, 2026. The footage shows a bull suddenly charging towards people attending the evening Ganga Aarti at Malviya Ghat in Haridwar.

Devotees can be seen moving away quickly as the animal rushes towards the gathering. The sudden movement causes confusion, with people running in different directions to avoid being struck. The bull remains agitated and appears ready to charge again, adding to the tense atmosphere.

Despite the frightening situation, authorities confirmed that nobody was injured. The incident, however, demonstrated how an unexpected disturbance could quickly create panic in a crowded public space.

Har Ki Pauri is one of Haridwar's most important religious destinations, attracting devotees and tourists throughout the year. The evening Ganga Aarti, organised by Shri Ganga Sabha, is a major attraction where visitors gather along the banks of the Ganga to participate in prayers and witness the traditional ceremony.

With large numbers of people attending the ritual, even a brief disruption can create dangerous conditions. The presence of stray animals in such crowded areas has therefore become a growing concern.

Stray cattle safety concerns raised by Ganga Sabha

Following the incident, representatives of Shri Ganga Sabha expressed concern over stray cattle roaming freely around the ghats. They alleged that repeated complaints had been made to the local municipal corporation, but effective steps had not been taken to address the problem.

The representatives warned that uncontrolled movement of cattle near religious gatherings could lead to serious accidents. They stressed the importance of preventive measures to protect devotees, particularly during the busy evening Ganga Aarti.

Although the bull did not injure anyone, the incident highlighted the risks associated with sudden crowd movement. When people rush to escape danger in a limited space, the possibility of falls, collisions and stampede-like situations increases.

The episode has also renewed attention on the need for better crowd management, regular monitoring of stray animals and improved safety arrangements at major religious locations.

As of the report published on October 19, 2026, neither the local police nor the district administration had issued an official response regarding the incident.

The video has brought the issue of stray cattle management at Haridwar's ghats back into focus. While the devotees escaped unharmed, the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining safe surroundings during large religious gatherings.
