Meta Platforms has announced the launch of its first-ever Gaming Accelerator program in India, signaling a major investment in the country’s growing game development ecosystem. The program, which targets small and medium game developers and studios, aims to empower Indian talent with cutting-edge tools, AI support, and access to venture capital, placing them on the global gaming map.
In the accelerator’s pilot phase, Meta plans to select 20 to 30 game developers or studios, though the criteria for selection has not yet been publicly disclosed. Over a three-month period, selected participants will undergo structured training covering core aspects like monetisation strategies, user acquisition, cross-border scaling, and AI-driven game development.
A standout component of this initiative is its integration of Meta's AI suite, including tools like Llama, into the game creation process. From enhancing character development to optimizing gameplay dynamics, AI is expected to dramatically reduce turnaround time while increasing game quality. The curriculum is designed to not only sharpen developers' skills but also help them remain AI-ready in a rapidly evolving market.
According to Meta, this move aligns with the platform’s broader goal of supporting India's vast and innovative game development community. “India’s gaming community is a hotbed of creativity and innovation, but to unlock its full potential, we need to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity,” said Arun Srinivas, Managing Director and Head, Meta (India). “We hope to empower local success stories and create a launchpad for Indian gaming companies to scale globally.”
The program is being run in collaboration with four prominent venture capital partners Bitkraft Ventures, Kalaari Capital, Lumikai Fund, and Elevation Capital who will also offer mentorship throughout the program. To conclude the accelerator, Meta will host a demo day, where participating developers can showcase their innovations, attract investors, and explore acquisition opportunities.
The Meta Gaming Accelerator comes at a time when India’s gaming industry is booming, with rising user bases and revenue. As generative AI continues to reshape digital content creation, programs like this are expected to build confidence among developers and dispel myths surrounding AI-related job displacement, by equipping creators with the skills to thrive in the future.
