The action followed a tip received by the police that led investigators to a storage facility believed to be housing a large shipment of marijuana destined for transport into the city. Acting swiftly, detectives from the Special Investigations Division launched an inquiry into the tip, eventually tracking the suspected shipment to a storage facility located in the 4300 block of Communications Drive.
After confirming sufficient probable cause, authorities secured a search warrant for the location. On August 6, the warrant was executed by a coordinated team of law enforcement personnel. The search uncovered approximately 179,081.7 grams of marijuana, which is equivalent to around 398 pounds. The suspect in the case, identified as 47-year-old Zhenqi Lin, was taken into custody at the scene. Lin has been charged with possession of marijuana in an amount ranging from 50 to 2,000 pounds, which constitutes a second-degree felony under Texas law. Such charges carry significant legal consequences, including the potential for lengthy prison sentences. After his arrest, Lin was booked into jail but has since bonded out while awaiting further legal proceedings.
