Taylor Swift Knew the Chiefs Drafted Xavier Worthy Before Travis Kelce Did

In a surprising twist, pop sensation Taylor Swift showcased her newfound passion for football, specifically the Kansas City Chiefs' 2024 NFL Draft pick, Xavier Worthy. The 14-time Grammy Award winner, whose Eras Tour grossed over $2 billion, shared her excitement on the New Heights podcast, co-hosted by her boyfriend and Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce, alongside his brother Jason.

Taylor revealed that her enthusiasm for football had grown immensely after she started dating Travis. "I became obsessed with it," she confessed, recalling how she found herself "screaming" when she heard the Chiefs had drafted Worthy, the former Texas Longhorns wide receiver. Her excitement was so intense that her friends were taken aback, with some wondering what had happened to the normally composed singer. "Oh my God, I fell in love with it," she said, laughing at how her newfound football passion surprised everyone around her.

However, the biggest surprise came when Taylor shared the news with Travis Kelce. "You were the first person to tell me that," Travis responded, admitting he had no idea the Chiefs had selected Xavier Worthy. "I had to look it up to see if she had the wrong information," he added. Despite being the first to know, Taylor’s excitement clearly took Travis by surprise.

Swift had also publicly supported Worthy during the draft, liking an Instagram post from the Chiefs announcing the pick. The wide receiver’s impressive performance at the NFL Scouting Combine, where he set a new 40-yard dash record with a 4.21-second time, was undoubtedly a major factor in Taylor’s enthusiasm.

Worthy, who had an outstanding college career, made a significant impact in Super Bowl 59, where he became the first Longhorns player to score a touchdown in the championship game. Catching two touchdown passes from Patrick Mahomes, Worthy finished the game with 157 yards, solidifying his place in Chiefs history.

In the same podcast episode, Taylor also teased her fans with an exciting announcement the cover art for her upcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which is set to release on October 3, 2025. As Taylor continues to blend her passions for music and football, it’s clear that her connection to the game is only growing stronger.
