Israel’s air force carried out overnight strikes on key government sites in Iran, including the country’s presidential complex and a building linked to its top security authority, according to a statement issued by the Israel Defense Forces. The military said it targeted what it described as the “Iranian regime’s leadership compound,” identifying it as the central headquarters of Iran’s leadership structure.
In a post published on X, the Israel Defense Forces stated that the compound had been dismantled during the operation. The military described the location as housing Iran’s most senior decision-making forum and characterized it as one of the most heavily secured assets in the country. According to the statement, the Israel Air Force executed the strike using precise intelligence, underscoring what it said was the strategic significance of the target.
The operation comes amid an escalating cycle of missile strikes and drone attacks between Israel and Iran. Iranian forces have launched missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles toward Israel and Gulf states that host US military bases, following US and Israeli-led strikes on Iranian positions that began on Saturday. The exchanges mark the fourth consecutive day of intensified hostilities, raising concerns about broader Middle East conflict and regional security.
Israeli officials framed the latest airstrikes as part of an effort to disrupt Iran’s leadership and security infrastructure. Iranian authorities have not immediately provided detailed assessments of damage or casualties related to the reported strike on the presidential complex and leadership compound. As tensions continue to mount, regional observers warn that further escalation could deepen instability across the Gulf states and beyond, heightening geopolitical uncertainty in an already volatile environment.
