A new Jersey City beach shuttle stop is giving local riders a more direct way to reach popular Jersey Shore destinations during the summer travel season.
Park Avenue Worldwide is adding a weekend pickup location at the ACME on 18th Street in Jersey City, expanding its Shore-bound service for riders from Jersey City and nearby Hoboken.

The new stop will serve passengers traveling to Jersey Shore destinations including Avalon, Ocean City and Ventnor. The seasonal weekend service is scheduled to run from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
The expansion gives Jersey City riders another option beyond transfers, crowded transit routes or driving through summer traffic. For many local residents, the new pickup point creates a more direct beach commute without requiring a trip into Manhattan.
Park Avenue Worldwide Expands Shore Service
Park Avenue Worldwide has operated weekend shuttle routes from Manhattan, Brooklyn and Philadelphia. The company said the Shore service began about 10 years ago after New Yorkers asked for an easier way to travel to beach towns.
Chelsea Lazar, senior vice president of Park Avenue Worldwide, said the idea came after people who had moved to New York said they lacked better options for reaching the Shore.
Riders Look for Easier Jersey Shore Travel
Passengers using the existing service near the Lincoln Tunnel in Midtown Manhattan described the shuttle as a convenient alternative to Parkway traffic and crowded public transportation.
Conner Wynn of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, said he has used the service for two years and considers it the most convenient route, especially when trying to avoid traffic delays. Depending on traffic, the ride can take about two to three hours.
John Morrison of Washington Heights said the shuttle is easier and more comfortable because passengers can work during the ride and the vehicle is not usually crowded.
Company officials said the Jersey City stop was added after demand from New Jersey residents who wanted a direct and more comfortable way to reach the Shore.
Briana Candeub, senior vice president of Park Avenue Worldwide, said riders had complained that there was no luxury option and that they often had to use several forms of transportation to reach one destination.
The new Jersey City stop could be especially useful for Hoboken and Jersey City residents looking for a weekend beach trip without driving, parking or making multiple transfers.
