A few isolated showers and storms are expected today in Austin, with slightly better rain chances on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, the best opportunity for rain is likely to arrive this weekend, especially as a cold front makes its way into the region.
Today’s weather will be mainly sunny and dry for most of Central Texas, but a few showers may develop, particularly south and east of Austin. Afternoon temperatures will climb into the mid-90s, with humidity making it feel a few degrees hotter than the actual temperature.
Midweek Rain Chances and Weekend Forecast
A cold front to the north of Austin will move closer on Wednesday, increasing the chance of rain. However, the coverage will remain limited, and the front will retreat north, leaving Thursday dry with plenty of sunshine.
By Friday, a stronger cold front will push southward, increasing rain and storm chances throughout the Labor Day weekend. Saturday is expected to have the highest coverage of rain, providing some relief from the heat.
Over the next 7 days, Austin could see anywhere from 0.25 to 1 inch of rain. The cold front’s arrival will bring cooler temperatures, with highs dropping into the 90s, and some areas in the Hill Country may stay in the 80s over the holiday weekend.
Forecasts could change as the positioning of the cold front shifts, so it’s important to stay updated with the latest weather information for any changes in rain and temperature patterns.
