Pleasanton Ranks 5th Best for Schools in Bay Area, Earns Overall A+ Grade

Pleasanton has once again proven itself as one of the premier destinations for families in the San Francisco Bay Area and across California. According to the latest rankings from Niche, a platform that evaluates communities based on multiple quality-of-life factors, the city earned an impressive A+ overall grade for its schools, livability, and family-friendly environment. Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD) was recognized as the best in Alameda County in 2024, reinforcing the city’s strong academic reputation.

The city ranked 4th out of 129 for “Places with the Best Public Schools in the San Francisco Bay Area” and 5th out of 127 for “Best Suburbs to Raise a Family in the Bay Area.” It also secured the 9th spot for “Best Suburbs to Live in the Bay Area.” Beyond the regional spotlight, Pleasanton stood out statewide, earning 11th place out of 526 for “Best Suburbs to Raise a Family in California” and 16th for “Suburbs with the Best Schools in California.” These rankings are based on a mix of community reviews and official data from sources like the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Census Bureau, and the FBI.

Pleasanton received top marks in categories such as Public Schools, Good for Families, and Health and Fitness. While its grades dipped in Jobs and Crime & Safety, and even more so in “Cost of Living” (D+) and “Housing” (C+), the city remains a top choice for those who prioritize education and community atmosphere over affordability. Neighboring cities Dublin and Livermore also performed well, earning A and A- grades respectively, but Pleasanton’s consistent high rankings across multiple categories set it apart as a leading destination for families seeking quality education and a supportive environment.
