Announced at an ATA gathering in Baltimore, the initiative also seeks Telugu diaspora support for tourism promotion and heritage conservation.
The Telangana government plans to establish an NRI Bhavan in Hyderabad with an estimated investment of ₹10 crore, or 100 million rupees, to provide services for Non-Resident Indians and other international visitors.
The proposed facility would serve as a centralized assistance center for people arriving from abroad and seeking support while visiting Telangana. The government has not yet released details about the center’s precise location, construction schedule or complete range of services.
Initiative announced at Baltimore conference
Telangana Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao announced the proposal while addressing the 19th American Telugu Association conference in Baltimore, Maryland.
The American Telugu Association represents members of the Telugu-speaking community in the United States. Rao used the gathering to emphasize the Telangana government’s interest in maintaining stronger relationships with Telugu communities living overseas.
Telugu diaspora asked to promote tourism
Rao encouraged NRIs and association members to help position Telangana as an international tourism destination. He asked overseas Telugu communities to increase awareness of the state’s cultural, historical and tourism attractions among travelers outside India.
The outreach reflects an effort to use diaspora networks to strengthen Telangana’s international visibility and encourage more overseas visitors to explore the state.
Support sought for heritage conservation
The minister also invited NRIs and American Telugu Association members to adopt tourism and heritage sites for conservation, restoration and development.
Such participation could allow overseas communities to support the protection and improvement of historically or culturally important destinations while maintaining closer connections with Telangana.
Further details, including the project’s location, implementation timeline, operating authority and available services, are expected to determine how effectively the proposed NRI Bhavan can support overseas visitors and long-term diaspora engagement.
