The Jana Sena Party has stepped up its criticism of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy by releasing a video combining his remarks on a fatal road accident with footage highlighting the victim family’s hardship.
The political clip uses an idea from Trivikram Srinivas’s S/O Satyamurthy that an accident does not merely damage a vehicle but can push an entire family into crisis. Jana Sena used the cinematic reference to question what it described as Jagan’s lack of sympathy for the bereaved family.
Jagan Remarks Trigger Criticism Over Fatal Crash
The controversy began after Jagan spoke about Aarav Varma, son of former minister and YSRCP leader Seediri Appalaraju. Referring to the accused as an 18-year-old, Jagan questioned whether a murder case should be registered for what he described as a road accident.
Political opponents argued that the remarks concentrated on the accused’s age while giving insufficient attention to the person who died and the dependants left behind. Jagan’s comments consequently became the focus of a wider political argument over accountability, compassion and the treatment of accident victims.
The accident reportedly occurred near the old national highway in the Palasa-Kasibugga area of Srikakulam district on July 10. Reports identified the deceased as Danayya, a shepherd. Aarav Varma subsequently surrendered to police as media and political scrutiny of the case increased.
Crash Probe Widens After Police Officers Face Action
The case attracted further attention after allegations emerged that another person had initially been presented as the motorcycle rider. Reports claimed that Siddarth, an acquaintance of Aarav Varma, was first named in connection with the accident before investigators turned their attention to the former minister’s son.
The Kashibugga Circle Inspector and Sub-Inspector were later moved to Vacancy Reserve following allegations of negligence and possible interference with witnesses. This administrative action does not establish criminal guilt, and the investigation must determine responsibility for the accident and whether anyone attempted to misdirect the initial inquiry.
The developments have allowed Jana Sena to frame the controversy around political influence, police accountability and equal treatment before the law. YSRCP leaders, however, may argue that the nature of the charges and individual responsibility must be decided through evidence and legal procedure rather than political campaigns.
