Indian Student Harsimrat Kaur Randhawa Killed by Stray Bullet in Canada
In a heartbreaking incident, 21-year-old Indian student Harsimrat Kaur Randhawa lost her life after being hit by a stray bullet during a shootout in Hamilton, Ontario, on the evening of April 17. A student of Mohawk College, Harsimrat was reportedly an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire of a violent clash between two vehicles.

According to Hamilton Police, the shooting occurred near Upper James Street and South Bend Road East. The suspect, allegedly in a black Mercedes SUV, opened fire on a white sedan, and Harsimrat was fatally struck. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

Originally from Dhunda village in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, Harsimrat had moved to Canada two years ago for her studies. Her grieving family is appealing to the Indian government for urgent assistance in bringing her body home for last rites.

The Indian Consulate in Toronto confirmed the incident and expressed condolences while assuring full consular support to the family. Mohawk College also issued a statement mourning the tragic loss and offering support to students and staff affected.

The Hamilton Police Service is continuing its homicide investigation and has requested dashcam or surveillance footage from nearby areas between 7:15 and 7:45 pm on the day of the incident.
