Sourav Ganguly Sends Clear Message on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli Absence in India-England Test Series

Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian cricket team captain, has spoken out about the absence of cricketing giants Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in India’s recent Test series against England. With both players announcing their retirements just before the series, Ganguly’s verdict on the Shubman Gill-led team, which managed to level the series despite these voids, was clear: "Indian cricket stops for no one."

Ganguly emphasized that there is no shortage of talent in Indian cricket, pointing out how young players have seamlessly filled the gaps left by the senior players. "Look at the way they all batted, outstanding. That is how Indian cricket is. When Sunil Gavaskar left, Sachin Tendulkar came. When Tendulkar and others moved on, Virat Kohli emerged. And now, players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Shubman Gill are standing up," he said.

The 44-year-old also praised the performances of young players who stepped up during the series, particularly in the fifth Test at The Oval, where India managed to draw the series. Ganguly expressed satisfaction with the team's resilience, especially after a difficult start in the second innings of the Manchester Test, where they were at 0/2. Despite not securing their first Test series win in England since 2007, Ganguly appreciated the team’s remarkable effort, citing the consistency shown by players like KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and others.

Ganguly also lauded the performance of the Indian domestic structure, pointing out the importance of the IPL, A team, and Under-19 teams in developing the talent pool for the national team. He stressed that the future of Indian cricket is bright and that the system continues to churn out new stars ready to take on the world.

Ganguly’s message was clear: Indian cricket’s strength lies in its deep talent pool, and no single player or era defines the success of the team. The future is bright, with emerging stars ready to carry the legacy forward.
