India reaffirmed their dominance in Asian hockey with a clinical 4-1 win over South Korea in the Asia Cup 2025 final at Rajgir. The victory not only secured their fourth Asia Cup crown but also guaranteed a direct berth at the 2026 Hockey World Cup in Belgium and Holland. With this triumph, India have now become the second-most successful team in the competition, trailing only behind five-time champions Korea.
The packed Rajgir Stadium, overflowing with enthusiastic fans, witnessed India’s electrifying start as Sukhjeet Singh struck within the first minute after a clever build-up by Harmanpreet Singh. The early breakthrough set the tone, with India continuously applying pressure on the Korean defense. Despite missed chances from Dilpreet and Mandeep Singh, India doubled their lead in the 28th minute when Sanjay’s quick pass allowed Dilpreet to fire home. A composed performance in midfield by Vivek Prasad and Hardik Singh ensured India maintained control, stretching Korea’s defense with precise passes and intelligent positioning.
The third quarter saw India’s determination pay off once again. Raj Kumar Pal linked up with Dilpreet for the third goal, giving the team a comfortable 3-0 cushion. Soon after, Amit Rohidas converted a penalty corner to make it 4-0, effectively sealing the contest. Korea managed a consolation goal late in the final quarter, but it wasn’t enough to dent India’s confidence. The celebrations lit up Rajgir as fireworks marked the historic moment, with fans thronging the ground to meet their heroes.
Dilpreet Singh expressed his delight, recalling that India had not won the Asia Cup in eight years and highlighting the importance of teamwork in the circle. Hardik Singh reflected on the journey, emphasizing that the team had silenced critics who doubted their ability after a poor Pro League run. The win, according to Hardik, was built on calmness, ball control, and tactical discipline. For India, this Asia Cup victory is more than just silverware it is a statement of intent before major challenges ahead, including the World Cup and Asian Games. With four Asia Cup titles to their name, the Indian hockey team has truly reclaimed its crown as the Kings of Asia.
