The 2025 list showed limited movement among America’s most popular baby names. For boys, Liam, Noah, Oliver and Theodore kept the same top four positions from the previous year. Henry, James, Elijah, Mateo, William and Lucas completed the boys’ top 10.
On the girls’ list, Olivia stayed at No. 1, while Charlotte moved into second place. Emma, Amelia, Sophia, Mia, Isabella, Evelyn, Sofia and Eliana rounded out the top 10.
Charlotte Rises, Eliana Enters Top 10
Charlotte’s rise to No. 2 ended Emma’s six-year run in that position, according to the SSA. Eliana entered the girls’ top 10 at No. 10, replacing Ava, which dropped out of the top 10.
The SSA also highlighted the fastest-rising names of 2025. Kasai, Akari, Eziah, Jasai and Neithan gained the most popularity among boys’ names, while Klarity, Rynlee, Ailanny, Naylani and Madisson led the fastest-rising girls’ names.
The SSA has compiled baby name data since 1997, with searchable records going back to 1880. The annual list remains one of the most closely watched snapshots of US parenting and naming trends.
