The death of an 18-year-old domestic worker identified as Ayesha has prompted a criminal investigation in Lahore following allegations of sexual assault, an unwanted pregnancy and a forced abortion. According to information recorded by police, the young woman had been employed at a private residence, where she allegedly faced repeated abuse involving the employer’s son and a driver.
Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding her employment, the reported assaults and the medical treatment she received before her death. The allegations have not yet been proven in court, and authorities are reviewing witness accounts, medical evidence and statements connected to the case.
Alleged abortion followed by serious health problems
Ayesha reportedly discovered that she was pregnant in November. Police records allege that she was later taken to a private clinic, where medication was used to terminate the pregnancy without her free consent. Her health is said to have deteriorated after the procedure, leading to repeated medical complications.
She was subsequently sent to her hometown in Faisalabad, where her condition reportedly continued to worsen. After receiving treatment there, she was brought back to Lahore when her health became critical. Authorities are now examining the clinic’s role, including whether proper medical procedures and consent requirements were followed.
Statement recorded before her death
Before her death on May 26, Ayesha reportedly gave a statement to police describing the alleged abuse. A video in which she spoke about her experience also circulated after her death, drawing public attention to the case and increasing demands for legal action.
Police have registered allegations involving gang rape and murder as part of the investigation. The driver has reportedly been taken into custody, while the legal status of the other accused individuals remains subject to court proceedings. Clinic staff are also being questioned over possible medical negligence and procedural violations.
