Rishabh Pant Breaks Record, Most Sixes in Tests in England

Rishabh Pant continues to make history in the cricketing world. On Day 4 of the second Test against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham, the India vice-captain shattered yet another monumental record. After coming to the crease following KL Rahul's dismissal, Pant wasted no time and struck England pacer Josh Tongue for a six, marking his 22nd six in Tests in England. With this powerful shot, Pant set the record for the most sixes by any batter in Test matches played in an away country, surpassing Ben Stokes' 21 sixes in South Africa. Sir Vivian Richards held the previous record for visiting batters in England with 16 sixes.

During the second session, Pant completed a quick-fire half-century, leading India’s charge and helping the team extend their lead to over 400 runs. India’s captain, Shubman Gill, who had scored a brilliant 279 in the first innings, also made his half-century in the second innings. At Lunch, India was in a strong position at 177/3, with Pant and Gill unbeaten at the crease. India had made 113 runs in the first session, losing only two wickets KL Rahul and Karun Nair.

India pacer Varun Aaron praised Pant’s blitz, saying it took the momentum away from England. He highlighted how Pant’s aggression brought a new level of intensity to India’s innings. Despite strong bowling from England’s Josh Tongue and Brydon Carse, the Indian side remains dominant. With Pant’s stellar form and Gill’s solid foundation, India looks poised to push forward in the match. Pant’s form in the series has been exceptional, with a century in both innings of the first Test in Leeds and a quickfire 25 in the second Test’s first innings. His record-breaking feat adds to his growing legacy as one of the game’s most dynamic players.
