Chandrababu Naidu Says Rayalaseema Is Turning Into Konaseema With Irrigation Projects

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has emphasized that Rayalaseema, once known for its dry lands and droughts, is steadily transforming into a fertile region on par with Konaseema. He credited this remarkable shift to large-scale irrigation projects and modern water management practices implemented by his government.

Speaking at a high-level review meeting, Naidu said that advanced techniques like drip irrigation have significantly improved crop yields, offering hope for farmers in Rayalaseema who once struggled with water scarcity. He pointed out that the Pattiseema project helped conserve Krishna water in the delta while diverting much-needed resources to the region through the Srisailam reservoir. He further explained that the Handri-Neeva canal project has successfully extended Krishna waters all the way to Kuppam, his constituency.

Naidu urged officials and district collectors to guide farmers in adopting suitable commercial crops that ensure higher profits. He highlighted that timely government support, along with modern irrigation systems, is changing the economic landscape of Rayalaseema, once dependent solely on rainfall for cultivation.

The Chief Minister underlined that the long-term goal is not just to provide water but to create a model of sustainable and profitable agriculture. He added that with continuous efforts, Rayalaseema will soon shed its drought-prone image and emerge as a thriving green belt comparable to Konaseema, known for its lush paddy fields and coconut groves.

Naidu expressed confidence that integrated water projects, combined with farmer-centric policies, will ensure prosperity in regions previously left behind. He concluded by stating that Rayalaseema’s journey from scarcity to abundance represents the state government’s vision of inclusive growth and agricultural transformation.
