Fatima Bosch Wins Miss Universe 2025 After Walk-Out Drama Shocks Pageant World

Fatima Bosch of Mexico was crowned Miss Universe 2025 after a finale filled with emotions, controversy, and global attention. Her win became one of the most talked-about moments in pageant history, especially after her unexpected walk-out from the competition earlier in the week. Bosch triumphed over Thailand’s Praveenar Singh, Venezuela’s Stephany Abasali, the Philippines’ Ma. Ahtisa Manalo, and Côte d'Ivoire’s Olivia Yace, who secured the remaining top five positions. The official Miss Universe statement celebrated her grace, confidence, and powerful presence, calling her a “star” whose leadership will brighten the coming year.

The controversy began when Miss Universe Thailand National Director Nawat Itsaragrisil labelled Bosch a “dumbhead” after she declined to promote Thailand, the host country, on her social media channels. Bosch attempted to explain her position, but the disagreement escalated, prompting her to leave the room. Several contestants followed her out in support. Itsaragrisil instructed the others to sit if they wanted the contest to proceed and later issued an apology. The situation sparked global debate but ultimately strengthened Bosch’s public image as someone who stood by her principles.

At 25, Fatima Bosch is a fashion designer who studied in the United States and Italy. Diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia at a young age, she transformed her challenges into motivation and built a career focused on sustainable fashion. She is also the first Miss Mexico from Tabasco to commit her work to supporting children fighting cancer. Every year, she organizes a toy drive at the Oncology Hospital of Tabasco, helping hundreds of young patients during the holiday season.

Bosch’s Miss Universe prize includes $250,000 (around Rs 2.2 crore), a $50,000 annual salary for official duties, a luxury New York City residence, and the opportunity to retain the iconic crown until Miss Universe 2026. The crown itself is valued at over $5 million (about Rs 44 crore). She now joins Lupita Jones, Ximena Navarrete, and Andrea Meza as the fourth Mexican woman to win the world’s most prestigious beauty title.
