Asian Games 2026: Esha Singh Wins Silver in 25m Pistol

Asian Games 2026 Day 10 India results were highlighted by Esha Singh’s 25m pistol silver. India also secured medal assurances in boxing and kurash, recorded key squash wins and stayed in contention for more medals in athletics.

India enjoyed another eventful outing at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, with shooter Esha Singh delivering one of the standout performances by winning silver in the women’s 25m pistol individual event.

Esha finished with 38 hits after a dramatic final featuring five shoot-offs. She first survived a prolonged battle to remain in medal contention before challenging China’s Xiao Jiaruixuan for gold. The Chinese shooter eventually prevailed in the deciding shoot-off, leaving Esha with a well-earned silver medal.

There was disappointment for two-time Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker, who failed to qualify for the women’s 25m pistol individual final. India’s team of Esha Singh, Manu Bhaker and Rahi Sarnobat also finished outside the medals in the team competition.

India secures more medals in boxing and kurash

India’s boxing campaign continued to gather momentum as Priya Ghanghas assured herself of a medal in the women’s 60kg category. She defeated Tajikistan’s Mijgona Samadova by a unanimous 5-0 decision in the quarterfinals.

Lovlina Borgohain also secured a podium finish after defeating South Korea’s Seong Suyeon 5-0 in the women’s 75kg quarterfinal.

Parveen Hooda had already booked her place in the women’s 65kg semifinals with a unanimous 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan’s Navbakhor Khamidova, assuring India of another boxing medal.

In kurash, Pincky Balhara converted her strong run into a bronze medal in the women’s -78kg category. After beating South Korea’s Lim Garam 3-0 in the quarterfinal, Balhara lost 0-5 to South Korea’s Mo Sumin in the semifinal and finished with bronze. It was her second Asian Games medal after her silver at Jakarta 2018.

Squash and athletics keep India in contention

India also recorded encouraging results in the squash team competition. Tanvi Khanna defeated Japan’s Akari Midorikawa 12-10, 11-9, 4-11, 12-10, helping the Indian women secure their tie against Japan.

In the men’s competition, Velavan Senthilkumar defeated South Korea’s Na Joo-young 11-6, 11-4, 11-7 to give India a 1-0 lead in the tie. India had earlier opened its men’s team campaign with a 3-0 victory over China.

Athletics remained another major area of interest for India. During the afternoon update, Seema was provisionally third in the women’s discus throw with a mark of 58.40m, while Sanya Yadav was seventh with 49.90m. Because the competition was still in progress at that point, those positions should not be presented as final results.

India also had athletes competing or scheduled in events including the women’s 400m hurdles, men’s 3000m steeplechase, men’s long jump and women’s 5000m.

In compound archery, Jyothi Surekha Vennam’s individual campaign ended in the round of 16 after South Korea’s 14-year-old Kang Yeonseo produced a perfect 150 to defeat the Indian 150-146.

Meanwhile, India’s men’s cricket quarterfinal against Afghanistan was abandoned because of inclement weather. India advanced to the semifinals without taking the field, benefiting from its higher ICC T20I ranking.

With Esha Singh adding a shooting silver, Pincky Balhara taking kurash bronze and several Indian boxers securing semifinal places, India continued to strengthen its medal prospects across multiple disciplines at the Asian Games 2026.
