RTC Strike in Telangana Resolved: Buses Set to Resume Operations After Successful Government Talks

Hyderabad, 25 April 2026

After several days of tension and a growing crisis in Telangana, the ongoing strike by the Telangana Road Transport Corporation (RTC) employees is finally coming to an end. The strike, which started earlier this week, intensified following the tragic death of an RTC driver. The employees had been demanding better pay, improved working conditions, and job security. As the strike dragged on, public transport services across the state were severely disrupted, leaving commuters stranded and adding pressure on the state government to act.

The Telangana RTC employees’ strike began at midnight on 22 April 2026 after talks with the government failed, leading to a statewide halt in bus services. Following nearly three days of disruption and intensive negotiations between government representatives and the RTC Joint Action Committee, the strike was officially called off in the early hours of 25 April 2026, with bus services resuming from the first shift the same morning.

In response to the growing unrest, the Telangana government representatives, including Bhatti Vikramarka, Ponnam Prabhakar, and Sreedhar Babu, held urgent talks with members of the RTC Joint Action Committee (JAC). After intense negotiations, both parties reached an agreement, with the strike set to be called off. As a result, RTC buses across the state are expected to resume operations starting from the first shift on Saturday, 25 April 2026, bringing much-needed relief to the people of Telangana.

The successful resolution of this crisis marks a significant victory for both the government and the RTC employees. The government has committed to addressing the workers' concerns, including pay revisions and working conditions, and has pledged to prevent further disruptions in public transport services. This breakthrough in negotiations is being hailed as a positive development for the state, as it ensures the restoration of critical services for the people of Telangana.

With the strike over, the RTC buses will be back on the roads, and the government is hopeful that the resolution will help strengthen the relationship between the state and the transport workers, ensuring smoother operations moving forward. The people of Telangana can look forward to a return to normalcy in their daily commutes, thanks to the successful talks and the restoration of RTC services.
