Houston Clinics Tackle Youth Mental Health Crisis

In Houston, a growing concern around youth mental health is being met with action by the Ibn Sina Foundation, a community-driven organization that has provided affordable healthcare to underserved populations for over two decades. Founded to support low-income and uninsured residents, the foundation now runs multiple clinics across the city, offering both medical and behavioral health services.

Anchor Rashi Vats recently spoke with the foundation’s founder and chairman, along with Mahtab Morai, Director of Behavioral Health Services. Both emphasized the growing mental health crisis among young people and how digital exposure is compounding emotional and psychological stress.

To expand the dialogue, the Indian American Public Affairs Council is organizing an event on June 15, 2025, focusing on “Youth Mental Health and the Digital World.” The event will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at the Eternal Gandhi Museum, 12379 Riceville School Road, Houston, TX 77031. Free registration is required for attendance.

The Ibn Sina Foundation’s work and upcoming discussions aim to not only treat mental health concerns but to also raise awareness about how the modern digital landscape affects today’s youth. With continued collaboration between healthcare providers and community groups, Houston is taking steps toward stronger, more accessible mental healthcare for all ages.
