The recent public meeting organized by YS Jagan in Sattenapalli turned tragic, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and sparking criticism from Andhra Pradesh’s Home Minister Taneti Vanitha. Despite clear advisories from the Andhra Pradesh Police Department advising against the event due to security concerns, the YCP-led tour proceeded as a “console tour” to meet the family of a deceased supporter.
The situation escalated when a vehicle from Jagan’s convoy struck an elderly man named Lingayya, causing severe injuries that led to his death in the hospital. Later, at the Clock Tower Junction in Sattenapalli, another man collapsed from suffocation amid the dense crowd and was also declared dead despite medical efforts.
Home Minister V.Anitha condemned the decision to ignore police warnings, calling the act irresponsible and emphasizing the importance of public safety during political events. This incident has raised serious concerns about the handling of crowd control and event security in Andhra Pradesh’s political landscape.
The tragic loss of two innocent lives during what was meant to be a consolatory tour has now become a focal point of political controversy, with calls for stricter adherence to security protocols in future public gatherings.
