Dhanush’s 50th Film "Raayan" Hits Theaters This Friday Dhanush's milestone 50th film, Raayan, is set to arrive in cinemas this Friday. Written and directed by Dhanush, the movie features an ensemble cast including SJ Suryah, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Selvaraghavan, Prakash Raj, Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in key roles. Ahead of the release, Sundeep Kishan interacted with Telugu media, and here is the transcript.  Could you tell us about your character in Raayan?  I shouldn’t reveal it. You should see it only on the big screens. The character I played should have been essayed by Dhanush Anna. That is the best compliment. My role in Raayan is entirely new to me. I firmly believe my performance will be well-received. It is an entertaining character with emotional depth. I have also done fight scenes.  Why is the film titled Raayan?  It is our surname in the film. I asked Dhanush Anna about an alternative title for the Telugu version. This is a story that happens in the Northern part of Madras. Dhanush Garu felt changing the title might affect the authenticity of the story. According to him, people should see Raayan as a film whose story happens in North Madras. Just like how Thiru and KGF entertained audiences, Raayan will also offer satisfaction.  How was it working under the direction of Dhanush?  This is a challenging film. The shoot took place over 90 days, and I participated for about 75 days. It was very challenging for me. I also suffered a shoulder injury. The shoot used to happen in multiple sets within a 20-kilometer radius, and the experience was very new. As a director, Dhanush Anna is a whole different person. Krishna Vamsi, Deva Katta, and Raj & DK are the toughest directors I have worked with, and Dhanush Anna is a new addition to this list. I learned a lot as an actor. Everyone in Raayan worked hard to fulfill Dhanush Anna’s vision.  Could you tell us about your new films?  I am now working on my 30th film, which Trinadha Rao Nakkina Garu is directing. It is a neat family entertainer. Maayavan’s shoot is underway. Maayavan is a sci-fi superhero film. Also, I am doing a movie called Vibe under Swadharm Entertainment. It is also an exciting project.

Naresh On Failures and 12A Railway Colony in Exclusive Interview

You recently said “I won my flops more than my hits.” What does that mean? Naresh: Failures taught me more than success ever did. When a film flopped, it forced me to look inward—understand what went wrong, where I need to improve, and how to evolve. My flops made me stronger, more patient and more self-aware as an actor. That’s why I feel I won them. How do you deal emotionally with a film not working at the box office? Naresh: It hurts, of course. We put our heart into every project. But over
