Exclusive Interview: Samyuktha on Her Key Role in Akhanda 2 and Working with Balakrishna

You are one of the busiest actresses in Telugu cinema right now. How does it feel?
It feels wonderful. After Virupaksha, I received several offers but I am very selective about what I choose. I signed Bimbisara, Virupaksha, Sir, and Bheemla Nayak around the same period, though they released at different times. Later I signed Swayambhu, Naari Naari, and then Akhanda 2. After that, I worked in Puri sir’s film. I always choose stories based on content and how much it connects with audiences.

How did you come on board Akhanda 2?
The director narrated the story. I asked my team about dates, and they said I didn’t have any. But I insisted I must do this film. They later adjusted the schedule. Boyapati sir has a grand vision and this film is beyond imagination.

What kind of role can we expect from you in the film?
My character appears in a very crucial sequence and plays an important part. It is a stylish role. I was also told I would be performing a mass song. Initially, I was nervous because I had never done such a song before. I practised for two days, injured my knees, took physiotherapy, and still pushed myself because entertaining the audience is my final goal.

How was it working with Nandamuri Balakrishna?
He is extremely friendly. I first met him during an ad shoot and he spoke to me like we already knew each other. He is a director’s actor. Whatever the director asks, he does it with full dedication. I admire that quality in him. Working with him is very comfortable.

A video from the Vizag event went viral as a meme. Did you see it?
Yes, I saw it. I saved all the memes. When I showed them to him, we both laughed. Memes cannot be forced; they happen organically.

How is Thaman’s music shaping up for Akhanda 2?
The response to the songs released so far has been fantastic. The music is like a tribute to Lord Shiva. The background score includes Sanskrit lyrics and powerful rhythms that create a trance-like effect.

Which Balakrishna film is your favourite?
I love Daku Maharaj. It is one of my favourite films. It performed very well in Kerala too. I also liked Akhanda.

You seem to be doing many mythological films. Is it intentional?
No, it is happening naturally. I didn’t plan it that way.

Are you really spiritual as people say?
Yes, I am. It’s a deep subject. We need a separate interview just for that topic. (laughs)

What would you like to say about the producers of Akhanda 2?
Ram sir and Gopi sir are amazing producers. Their support is the backbone of such a big film. They have also handled the promotions on a massive scale nationwide.

How do you feel about the Telugu film industry?
Telugu audiences are next level. The way they celebrate cinema on the first day itself is incredible. Their love gives us confidence and joy.

What can we expect from your upcoming movies?
In Swayambhu, I play an action-oriented role. In Sharwa’s Naari Naari Naduma Murari, I have a very interesting character. Working with Puri sir was also a great experience.

All the best.
Thank you.
