AR Murugadoss Talks About Madarasi and Siva Karthikeyan's Role in This Exclusive Interview

How do you feel about releasing Madarasi on September 5th as a director?
I consider every film as my first film. I feel the same way about Madarasi. I am confident that this movie, with its different story, will impress everyone.

What is the reason behind the title Madarasi?
In the North, people from South India are often called 'Madaraasi'. This film largely takes the villain's perspective, and the villain calls the hero 'Madarasi'. Hence, I chose this title.

Do you think people from other regions will accept the title Madarasi?
The story is set in Tamil Nadu, so the title makes sense here. The content and story will connect with people from all regions, though.

Can you tell us about the story of Madarasi?
The story addresses issues that are already prevalent in Western countries and a new problem emerging in India. It's a unique and socially relevant subject that I believe everyone should be aware of.

Why was Siva Karthikeyan chosen for Madarasi?
Siva Karthikeyan's role is new and different. When I narrated the story to him, he instantly loved it and agreed to take it on. His mass appeal will ensure the story reaches a larger audience.

What is Rukmini Vasanth’s role like in Madarasi?
Rukmini’s character is very realistic and relatable. She plays a role that everyone can connect with, and she has become one of the most sought-after actresses right now.

Vidyut Jamwal is playing the villain again. How did you convince him for the role?
Vidyut Jamwal is an exciting actor. He agreed to play the villain role after hearing the story of Madarasi. Even though he’s currently doing hero roles, he was thrilled with this role.

How are the action sequences in Madarasi?
The action sequences are fantastic, especially the fight scenes in the second half. The action between the hero and villain is designed to amaze the audience.

How is Anirudh’s music in Madarasi?
Anirudh is a brand in himself. He has done an amazing job with the BGM and RR, which took the scenes to the next level. His music adds great cinematic depth to the film.

How was the support from the producers of Madarasi?
I’ve had a long association with Sri Lakshmi Movies and NV Prasad garu. They trusted me with a unique subject and made sure the film was produced to its grandest scale.

What caused the five-year gap before Madarasi?
I’ve never been idle during these five years. I worked on an animation project, but it didn’t materialize. The gap was mainly due to that project’s delay.

South Indian cinema is now gaining recognition on a pan-India scale. What do you think about that?
South Indian audiences love cinema more than anyone else. We have world-class content, and our Indian film industry is showing its strength globally.

What is the next movie coming out from your production company?
I’m hearing many great stories and have finalized a few projects, but I can’t reveal them yet. Stay tuned for updates.

Can you share any details about your next project as a director?
I have a lot of ideas and concepts, but nothing specific is finalized yet. Once the script is ready, I will share more details about my next project.
