Exclusive Interview with Priyadarshi: Mithra Mandali Will Make Everyone Laugh and Think
Priyadarshi interacted with the media and shared insights about the making of Mithra Mandali, his experiences on set, and why he believes this movie will connect deeply with audiences.
Did Anudeep and Vijayender write this story together?
Anudeep, Vijay, Aditya Hasan, and Kalyan Shankar were all roommates. It’s tough to say who influenced whom since they all share a quirky creative streak. When Vijayender narrated the story, I initially thought it sounded like Anudeep’s work, but soon realized it was his own unique vision. This project is special because it’s built on friendship — Bunny Vas’s friends, Vijayender’s friends, the actors’ friends, and the technicians’ friends — all coming together for one purpose.
Did the success of ‘Jathi Ratnalu’ inspire you to do this film?
I liked how Jathi Ratnalu presented social issues through humor, and Vijayender has similarly added satirical layers in Mithra Mandali, especially about the caste system. I don’t believe cinema alone changes society, but it can hold a mirror to it.
What’s your take on negative or “cringe” comments on social media?
There’s nothing wrong with trying to make people laugh, but mocking others for humor is something I find cringe. Some people vent frustration through such comments; it’s best not to take it personally.
Every comedy now gets compared to ‘Jathi Ratnalu’. How is ‘Mithra Mandali’ different?
Mithra Mandali and Jathi Ratnalu are entirely different. After Jathi Ratnalu, I’ve done films like 35 Chinna Katha Kaadu and Court. I enjoy exploring varied genres — I avoid repeating similar roles or styles.
Do you think there’s a negative campaign against your film?
Everyone has the right to criticize, but targeted hate is something else. We even made a funny video addressing such negativity. Most haters hide behind fake profiles, so there’s no point reacting to them.
What kind of buzz does ‘Mithra Mandali’ have overseas?
There’s a very positive buzz! Telugu audiences abroad love our language and humor. I’m confident Mithra Mandali will make them laugh and feel connected.
How did Niharika NM join the project?
Since Niharika is Telugu, it was easy for her to blend in. She’s talented, friendly, and added great energy to the team — she’s truly an asset.
What was your reaction when you first heard the script?
I completely enjoyed it! What I felt during narration is exactly what we captured on screen. That consistency gives me confidence about the film’s success.
You said, “If audiences don’t like Mithra Mandali, don’t watch my next film.” Why?
That came from confidence and love for the project. Like how Nani once said it for Court, I said it for Mithra Mandali because I believe in it deeply, not to undermine others.
Tell us about your upcoming projects?
I’m currently shooting for Premante. I’ve also liked two other stories — official announcements will be made soon.
What can audiences expect from the story of ‘Mithra Mandali’?
It’s a fictional, satirical story not aimed at any individual or community. We created it to entertain — no one’s sentiments will be hurt. It’s a clean, fun movie that makes everyone laugh.
Are you nervous about the film’s premieres?
With multiple releases around the same time, we’re technically leading with our premieres, which means our verdict arrives first. But I believe the premieres will be an advantage. In the end, it’s the audience’s opinion that matters most.
Priyadarshi concludes with gratitude and optimism, “Mithra Mandali will entertain everyone. We’ve made this film with love and laughter, and I’m confident audiences will enjoy it just as much.”
