Sethupathi’s increasing popularity among Telugu audiences, spurred by the success of his recent film Maharaja, has made him a sought-after star in the region. In contrast, Vikram’s recent film Veer Dheera Soora has struggled to find buyers, with negotiations still ongoing.

Sethupathi's success in Telugu cinema has been bolstered by hit films like Maharaja, which grossed over Rs 10 crore, while Vikram has faced some setbacks with films like Sketch and Swamy Square. Despite his role in the Ponniyin Selvan series, his recent movie Thangaalan underperformed in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Distributors consider an actor’s recent performance as an indicator of their marketability, and Sethupathi’s impressive track record, including roles in Vikram, Master, and Uppenna, has positioned him as a rising star. His shift from negative roles to hero-centric characters has further boosted his appeal in the Telugu film industry, leaving Vikram behind for now.
