  • 26 Dec 2024 07:28 AM

The much-anticipated meeting between Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the Telugu film industry took place in Hyderabad today. Accompanied by Deputy CM Bhatti, Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkatareddy, and other officials, the CM interacted with key industry figures to address various issues and strengthen collaboration between the government and the film sector.

One of the primary points discussed was the government's stance on benefit shows, with Revanth Reddy reiterating that such shows would no longer be permitted in the state. He emphasized the government's commitment to maintaining law and order, adding that serious action would be taken against bouncers who disrupt the work of law enforcement officials.

The CM also called for the film industry’s active participation in social issues, particularly in promoting campaigns against drug use and protecting women. He urged the industry to cooperate with the government's initiatives to spread awareness and support development activities.

After the meeting, producer Dil Raju briefed the press, highlighting the discussions around the challenges faced by the industry and the government's commitment to taking Telugu cinema to a global level. Dil Raju revealed that the CM encouraged the production of Hollywood-caliber films in Hyderabad and hoped that industry personalities would take part in social campaigns against marijuana and drug use. He also dismissed rumors of any friction between the government and the film industry, assuring that the relationship was strong and that minor issues, such as ticket prices and benefit shows, were being downplayed.

During the meeting, several industry veterans voiced their opinions:

  • K Raghavender Rao expressed his support for the government's encouragement of the industry, praising the election of Dil Raju as the FDC Chairman. He suggested developing scenic spots in Telangana and suggested holding an International Film Festival.

  • Nagarjuna called for international standard studios in Hyderabad and urged the government to provide capital incentives to help grow the film industry globally. He envisioned Hyderabad becoming the cinema capital of the world.

  • Murali Mohan spoke about the significance of film releases and expressed sadness over the Sandhya theatre stampede. He emphasized the growing importance of film promotions in today’s competitive market.

  • Shyam Prasad Reddy emphasized the need to develop Hyderabad further as a top destination for cinema.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, and it remains to be seen how the government and film industry will continue to work together to address these issues moving forward.
