Kannappa, the much-anticipated Telugu epic devotional film, has ended its box office journey on a sour note, despite boasting a star-studded cast and a massive budget. Despite earning 9047% more than Vishnu Manchu’s previous release, Kannappa is being considered one of the biggest disasters in recent Telugu cinema.

Kannappa, which features a stellar cast including Vishnu Manchu, Mohanlal, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, and others, failed to make a significant impact at the box office. According to Sacnilk, the film earned a meager ₹1 lakh on its 21st day of release, signaling a disastrous end to its run in theaters. The film's net earnings in India stand at ₹32.93 crore, with gross earnings of ₹38.85 crore, including taxes. Although the film's gross earnings worldwide amount to ₹43.95 crore (with ₹5.10 crore from overseas collections), the film still falls short of breaking even, let alone making a profit.

The film was made on an extravagant budget of ₹200 crores, which included hefty production costs, VFX, and star salaries. However, Kannappa managed to recover only 16.46% of its estimated cost, resulting in significant financial losses for the producers. Despite the substantial growth compared to Vishnu Manchu’s previous project Ginna (which earned only ₹36 lakhs), Kannappa's box office performance has been labeled a failure.

Vishnu Manchu's last theatrical outing, Ginna, was a 2022 Telugu horror-comedy that failed to perform at the box office, earning just ₹36 lakhs. However, Kannappa has outperformed Ginna by a staggering 9047%, earning ₹32.93 crore in India. But, despite the significant increase, Kannappa still failed to meet its expectations and is categorized as a flop.

The film's cast includes some of the biggest names in Indian cinema, such as Vishnu Manchu, Mohanlal, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Kajal Aggarwal, Preity Mukhundhan, and Mohan Babu, among others. Kannappa, produced by Mohan Babu, was released worldwide on June 27, 2025. Despite the star power and epic storyline, the film couldn't generate the kind of box office buzz needed to recover its colossal budget.
