Lakshmi Manchu Slams Sexist Remark, Questions Mahesh Babu Going Shirtless At 50

Actor Lakshmi Manchu has sparked debate on gender bias in the film industry after she strongly confronted a journalist over a sexist remark. During a promotional interview for her upcoming film "Daksha: A Deadly Conspiracy," the 47-year-old actress was repeatedly asked about her choice of attire and whether it was appropriate for her age as a mother.

Visibly upset, Lakshmi fired back at the reporter, asking why such questions are never posed to male actors. She said, "Would you ask a man the same question? How dare you! Would you say, Mahesh Babu, you are 50 now, why are you going shirtless? Then how do you ask a woman the same thing? People learn from what you have asked me here today. As a journalist, be more responsible in the position you take."

The actress highlighted the hypocrisy faced by women in the industry, pointing out that opportunities are often snatched away due to personal circumstances. Citing an example, she said, "I know a superstar’s wife who is still in the industry. Even the films she was once offered have been taken away after her divorce because they feel her ex-husband might feel bad. She is waiting to do good work."

Lakshmi emphasized that men rarely face such biases and that women are forced to shoulder extra responsibilities. "A man will never face something like that; his life will never change. But a woman takes on so much responsibility. No one gives us freedom; we have to take it on our own," she added.

Apart from her upcoming film, Lakshmi Manchu was recently seen in the Prime Video reality series "The Traitors," which featured several celebrities including Anshula Kapoor, Ashish Vidyarthi, Jannat Zubair, Uorfi Javed, Raj Kundra, and Karan Kundrra. She has also been in the news for speaking about her father Mohan Babu’s role in Nani’s upcoming film "The Paradise."

Lakshmi’s bold stand against sexism in media interviews has quickly gone viral, with many fans praising her for calling out double standards in the industry. The incident has also reignited conversations about the treatment of women actors and the responsibilities of journalists in shaping public discourse.
