Vaa Vaathiyaar Release In Trouble As Court Case Blocks December 12 Plans

Karthi’s much-awaited film Vaa Vaathiyaar, which was scheduled to hit theatres on December 12th, has now run into a legal hurdle. A case has been filed in the Madras High Court against producer KE Gnanavel Raja regarding unpaid financial dues from an earlier collaboration. With the issue now under court review, the movie’s planned release date stands uncertain until the matter is resolved. The setback arrives at a crucial moment, especially with the actor’s fans waiting for a grand theatrical comeback and high expectations riding on the project.

The dispute traces back to 2011 when Gnanavel Raja partnered with Sunderdas to produce films. Following financial losses, Sunderdas exited and was later declared insolvent by the court. An Official Assignee was appointed to verify assets and settle pending debts. As per the directive, Gnanavel Raja must repay an outstanding amount of Rs 10.35 crore. Since the payment remains unsettled, the court has temporarily restricted the release of Vaa Vaathiyaar. The film can only proceed to screens once the amount is cleared or a resolution is reached in court.

The High Court will reassess the matter on December 8th and a clear decision is expected regarding the film’s release eligibility. If the dues are not paid, Vaa Vaathiyaar might miss its December 12th release window, impacting promotional momentum and distribution schedules. With previous box-office results causing financial strain, the producer was hopeful for a successful comeback through this project. Now, the legal hold has created tension among trade circles and fans alike. While the team remains hopeful, all eyes are now on the upcoming court hearing to determine whether the film can move ahead as planned or face postponement. The industry waits for clarity, while fans hope the issue resolves quickly so Vaa Vaathiyaar can make its way to cinemas without further delay.
