Director Nelson likely to helm much-awaited Rajinikanth–Kamal Haasan multistarrer

Director Nelson likely to helm much-awaited Rajinikanth–Kamal Haasan multistarrer

Two of the most iconic names in South Indian cinema, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, could finally be sharing screen space once again, as strong buzz surrounds a potential multistarrer featuring the legendary actors. For years, fans have been eagerly waiting to see the two stalwarts come together, and recent developments suggest that the long-anticipated project is slowly taking shape behind the scenes.

Earlier reports had claimed that director Lokesh Kanagaraj was in talks to helm this prestigious collaboration and had even narrated an idea to both stars. However, sources indicate that Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan collectively preferred to move away from a hardcore action-oriented subject. Instead, they are said to be keen on working together in an entertaining, engaging film that highlights their charisma, screen presence, and versatility rather than focusing solely on high-intensity action.

Following this decision, the search began for a filmmaker capable of handling two towering personalities while delivering a fun, gripping narrative. According to the latest industry buzz, director Nelson Dileep Kumar has emerged as the top choice to direct this ambitious multistarrer. Known for his unique style and dark comedy-driven storytelling, Nelson is reportedly close to being finalized for the project.

Sources suggest that Nelson has already impressed the stakeholders with his approach, and a promotional shoot related to the film could take place as early as next week. His ability to balance humor, mass appeal, and strong character moments is believed to be a key factor in him being entrusted with this high-profile collaboration.

One of the most notable aspects of this development is Nelson’s successful history with Rajinikanth. He previously delivered the blockbuster Jailer, which turned out to be one of the biggest hits in Rajini’s career. Nelson is currently busy directing Jailer 2, marking his second consecutive collaboration with the Superstar. If the multistarrer materializes, it would become Nelson’s third film with Rajinikanth and his first-ever project with Kamal Haasan.

Nelson has also established his credibility by working with other top stars like Thalapathy Vijay, proving his ability to handle big personalities and massive expectations. Given this track record, many believe he is well-suited to bring Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan together in a film that does justice to their legendary status. While official confirmation is still awaited, the prospect of Nelson directing a Rajini–Kamal multistarrer has already set social media abuzz. If finalized, this project is expected to become one of the most talked-about and anticipated films in Indian cinema in recent times.
