South Indian actress Sai Pallavi, known for her remarkable performances, is making her Bollywood debut with Ek Din. The film, co-starring Junaid Khan, Aamir Khan’s son, in the lead role, has released its theatrical trailer, and it looks set to tug at the heartstrings of audiences with its tragic love story.
Sai Pallavi first made a huge impact with her debut film Premam in 2015, where she played the role of a teacher whose love story ends in heartbreak after an accident leaves her with amnesia. Ek Din follows a similar theme, with Pallavi portraying a woman suffering from "transient global amnesia," a condition that causes her to forget everything for a day and then regain her memories the following day. Junaid Khan plays her love interest, who, despite this challenging condition, remains by her side, helping her navigate the emotional turmoil.
The story takes us through the journey of Junaid’s character, an introverted tech geek working in a corporate company, who secretly admires Pallavi’s character. While on vacation in Japan, Junaid learns that Pallavi is dating their boss, played by Kunal Kapoor. After a tragic accident, Pallavi’s memory loss is revealed, leading Junaid to step up as her emotional support.
The trailer showcases heartfelt moments, coupled with a soulful background score that complements the story’s emotional depth. Sai Pallavi’s performance seems perfectly suited for the role, while Junaid Khan holds his ground as a shy, introverted tech-geek. Overall, Ek Din looks like a promising romantic drama that fills a gap Bollywood has been missing for years. The film is set for release on May 1, 2026, and it remains to be seen if it will strike a chord with audiences, offering the much-needed emotional connection and romance that Bollywood has lacked recently.
