The teaser of Drishyam 3 starring Mohanlal has been released, hinting at a darker and more intense final chapter in the popular thriller franchise. The film is set to release in theatres on May 21, 2026, continuing the gripping story of Georgekutty and his family.
Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the teaser revisits the events from the earlier films and shows how the past continues to haunt Georgekutty. The narrative builds on the aftermath of Drishyam and Drishyam 2, where Georgekutty went to extreme lengths to protect his family from a crime investigation.
In the teaser, Georgekutty reflects on his actions, describing himself as an ordinary man whose world revolves around his wife and daughters. However, the tone quickly shifts as he admits fear, suggesting that the situation is no longer under his control. The visuals indicate that the case he once believed was buried may resurface, bringing renewed danger and emotional turmoil.
The teaser also shows glimpses of key characters returning to the story. Meena reprises her role as Rani, while Ansiba Hassan and Esther Anil return as Georgekutty’s daughters. The presence of Varun’s parents, played by Siddique and Asha Sharath, suggests that unresolved tensions from the past will play a crucial role in the storyline.
The tagline, “The Past Never Stays Silent,” reinforces the central theme of consequences catching up over time. With the earlier films achieving massive success and multiple remakes across languages, Drishyam 3 is expected to deliver a high-stakes and emotionally charged conclusion to the trilogy.
Samantha, Gunasekhar, and Dil Raju are taking a huge risk with Shakuntalam which is overtly above its proposed budget and ended up costing the makers a big fortune.
