Mohanlal has unveiled a seven-film lineup featuring established collaborators and first-time directors across multiple genres.
Mohanlal Seven-Film Slate Brings Together New and Veteran Directors
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has unveiled an ambitious seven-film lineup at the age of 66, signalling one of the busiest phases of his career. The actor shared details of his upcoming collaborations on August 18, presenting a slate that moves across thrillers, fantasy, action-comedy and emotional drama.
The lineup includes films with Vishnu Mohan, Anoop Sathyan, Priyadarshan, Dileesh Pothan, Sathyan Anthikad, Jude Anthany Joseph and Jeethu Joseph. Some of these filmmakers are longtime collaborators, while others will work with Mohanlal in a full-fledged project for the first time.
The variety in the lineup has attracted attention because it shows the actor continuing to experiment with genres while also returning to creative partnerships that have delivered some of Malayalam cinema’s most memorable films.
Mohanlal L367 and Priyadarshan Projects Lead the Upcoming Lineup
One of the first projects announced is tentatively titled L367, directed by Vishnu Mohan. Details remain limited, but the film is expected to be an intense thriller. Reports have linked its premise to Operation Ganga, India’s 2022 evacuation mission for citizens stranded in Ukraine during the Russian invasion, although the film is not expected to be a direct adaptation.
Another major project reunites Mohanlal with Priyadarshan for the filmmaker’s 100th movie. Their association dates back to Priyadarshan’s 1984 directorial debut Poochakkoru Mookkuthi. The new collaboration is reportedly planned as an emotional musical drama, making it one of the most significant reunions in the actor’s upcoming slate.
Dileesh Pothan is also teaming up with Mohanlal for Nedumkandam Miracle. The project is reportedly being developed as a fantasy film, marking a notable departure from the grounded storytelling style for which Pothan is widely known.
Mohanlal Teams Up With Jude Anthany Joseph and Anoop Sathyan
Mohanlal will also work with Jude Anthany Joseph in a full-length project. The actor had earlier appeared in a cameo in Thudakkam, which was directed by Jude and marked the debut of Mohanlal’s daughter Vismaya. Details of their new collaboration remain under wraps.
Anoop Sathyan is another filmmaker joining Mohanlal’s lineup. Their project is expected to combine action, comedy and thriller elements, creating a fresh genre mix for the actor.
At the same time, Mohanlal is returning to familiar collaborators. He will reunite with Sathyan Anthikad after Hridayapoorvam and is also set to work again with Jeethu Joseph, the director behind the Drishyam franchise. The Jeethu Joseph project has already prompted speculation over whether it could be connected to the long-delayed Ram or be an entirely new film.
Mohanlal Athimanoharam Arrives Before Seven-Film Marathon Begins
Before the seven announced projects begin rolling out, Mohanlal will next be seen in Athimanoharam, directed by Tharun Moorthy. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on December 24, 2026, and features Meera Jasmine alongside Mukesh, Jagadish and Manoj K Jayan.
Mohanlal began shooting for Athimanoharam on August 18 near the Pampa region. The film is written by Ratheesh Ravi and marks another collaboration between Mohanlal and Tharun Moorthy.
The actor is also expected to make cameo appearances in Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Khalifa: Part 1 and Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2. With seven major projects in development alongside upcoming releases and special appearances, Mohanlal’s new slate underlines his continued push into different genres and creative partnerships.
